LayerTry Legal
Privacy Policy
LayerTry provides an AI-powered virtual try-on service for Shopify merchants. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and handle personal data in connection with the app, storefront widget, merchant dashboard, website, and related services.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to LayerTry's Shopify app, merchant tools, storefront widget, website, and related support interactions.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect and process:
- shopper photos uploaded through the widget
- product images and product metadata
- prompts and try-on request data
- device, browser, and technical usage information
- country, event timestamps, logs, and analytics data
- merchant account, billing, and support data
3. How We Use Data
We use submitted data only as needed to operate the LayerTry service, generate try-on results, maintain service quality, prevent abuse, support merchants, and comply with legal obligations.
4. Shopper Photos
Shopper photos are processed to generate the try-on result and may be retained only for the limited time needed for service operation, quality review, and abuse prevention. Shopper-level data is deleted in line with Shopify's GDPR redact flow when requested.
5. Merchant Responsibility
Merchants are responsible for providing any notices, disclosures, or consent flows required under applicable law before shoppers upload photos or personal data into the widget.
6. Data Retention
We retain data only for as long as needed to operate the service, support merchants, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. When a merchant uninstalls LayerTry, all data tied to the shop is permanently deleted within Shopify's standard 48-hour uninstall window, subject only to limited retention strictly needed for fraud prevention, dispute handling, or legal compliance.
For shopper-level data requests:
- Shopper data requests — when a shopper asks the merchant for a copy of their data, LayerTry provides a summary of the try-on activity tied to that shopper. LayerTry does not collect or store shopper email, name, or contact information.
- Shopper data deletion— when a shopper asks the merchant to delete their data, LayerTry permanently deletes the try-on records and any stored images associated with that shopper, in line with Shopify's standard timing for redact requests.
7. Data Sharing and Sub-processors
We do not sell personal data. LayerTry uses third-party infrastructure and AI providers to host and process data, including hosting, storage, and AI image-generation services. These providers process data only on LayerTry's behalf and under contractual data protection terms.
We may share data only when necessary:
- to operate and support the LayerTry service, including via the sub-processors described above
- to comply with legal obligations or valid legal requests
- to protect the security, rights, or integrity of the service
- in connection with a business transfer or restructuring
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict personal data, or to object to certain processing.
10. Children
LayerTry is not intended for use by children. Merchants must ensure that the widget is not used by or on behalf of minors. Submissions that appear to depict children may be rejected automatically.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted with an updated effective date.
